This privacy policy describes how we use your personal information. As used in this policy, the term “personal information” means information that can be directly associated with an individual, and includes names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, etc.

This policy applies to all information received by She Votes Illinois, both online and offline, on any Platform (“Platform”, includes the She Votes Illinois website and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.

  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to transact contributions and expenditures, to comply with the law or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our organization.
  • We aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control what’s visible to the public, seen by search engines, kept private, and permanently deleted.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files which are transferred from our website and stored on your device. Through Google Analytics, we use cookies to help make our website better for you. Google Analytics is a tool that helps us measure how users interact with our website content. This may include the pages users visit most often and whether users get error messages from certain pages. We use these cookies to help us improve our services, in order to improve our users’ browsing experience. Blocking or deleting these cookies will not render the website unusable. We use cookies to collect information and report website usage statistics without personally identifying individual visitors to Google.



Storage

She Votes Illinois stores email addresses through MailChimp when you register to an event or subscribe to our mailing list on our website. No other personal information is stored.



IP Addresses

We do not log IP addresses. We do aggregate the number of page hits using Google Analytics in order to track the popularity of certain pages, understand better how visitors use the site, and improve the quality of our site. There is no personal information collected.



E-mail addresses

We require your email address when you donate so that we can email you a receipt or when you register for an event so that we can keep you updated on important information relating to an event.

Also, you may choose to receive occasional email updates about She Votes Illinois or for our newsletter. You can instantly unsubscribe at any time by clicking here. If you are having problems with this link, you can unsubscribe by contacting us here. Please allow one week for processing.

An opt-out option is located on our website as well as a link in every email message.



Information Collected

When you contribute to a political action committee, we are required by law to collect your name, postal address, phone number, email address, occupation, and employer through our third party donation service, ActBlue, or via written correspondence directly with She Votes Illinois. We record this information along with your contribution amount to the Illinois State Board of Elections. A copy of our report filed with the State Board of Elections is (or will be) available to the public on the Board’s official website at https://idis3.elections.il.gov/ or for purchase from the State Board of Elections, Springfield, Illinois.

Furthermore, She Votes Illinois discloses personal information to certain members of the PAC Board, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know this information in order to process it on She Votes Illinois’ behalf or to provide services available at She Votes Illinois’ website, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. She Votes Illinois will not rent or sell personal information to anyone. Other than to certain members of the PAC Board, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, She Votes Illinois will disclose personal information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when She Votes Illinois believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of She Votes Illinois, third parties or the public at large. She Votes Illinois takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of personal information.



Credit Card Information

She Votes Illinois does not receive or maintain your credit card information. ActBlue, our donation service, securely transmits your credit card information to Litle & Co. (their payment processor), and does not store this information unless you have specifically requested a recurring contribution. ActBlue also requests your phone number and email address when you contribute so that they can reach you should further verification of your credit card information be required.



Use of third party vendors

Although this policy applies to the all personal information received, it does not apply to businesses or entities that are not owned or controlled by us.

To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

Marketing

We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity for marketing purposes, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. She Votes Illinois may send emails to our donors and subscribers on behalf of other organizations who sponsor or partner with us on occasion.



Children

Protecting the privacy of children is especially important to us. For that reason and in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, She Votes Illinois does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13. She Votes Illinois does not permit contributions from minors under the age of 18.



Amendments

She Votes Illinois may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and at She Votes Illinois’ sole discretion. She Votes Illinois will post a notice of change on our website if and when amendments are made to our policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
